With the support of different wildlife protection groups, the LPO has outlined the position that it hopes to defend for the project, developed by the Ministère de l’Ecologie, du Développement Durable, des Transports et du Logement [France’s Ministry for Ecology, Sustainable Development, Transport and Housing] and managed by the ONCFS [France’s National Office for Hunting and Wild Fauna], of drawing up an action plan for griffon vultures. This document is built around an opening series of supporting arguments followed by an action plan to preserve griffon vultures, which could form a central guideline that the different conservation initiatives developed locally make a reality. For the supporting arguments, the petitioners used information and tools designed to increase awareness about the roles played and services provided by vultures so that the birds could be better understood, as well as producing an improved assessment of the level of vultures’ contribution to and responsibility in events that affect certain herds of farmed livestock.
I would like to encourage you to share this document (PDF) and use it where necessary.
